Interpreter of Maladies

I just finished reading ‘Interpreter of Maladies’ by Jhumpa Lahiri… I am impressed. It was excellent prose, style and content.. Each story makes you think and feel with the characters involved. At about 190 pages, it makes for very easy reading.. something you can do in one sitting.

I love the ending of “The third and final continent”:

I know that my achievement is quite ordinary. I am not the only man to seek fortune far from home, and certainly I am not the first. Still, there are times I am bewildered by each mile I have traveled, each meal I have eaten, each person I have known, each room in which I have slept. As ordinary as it all
appears, there are times when it is beyond my imagination.

WOW.. that could not have been worded better..

Other books that I plan to read in the next couple of weeks include
1. Fear and loathing in Las Vegas
2. Tropic of Cancer
3. The God of small things
4. Love in the time of cholera

Later…
